Learn More ›At The Leprosy Mission, research goes beyond scientific discovery—it is a catalyst for better health, stronger health systems and lasting change. We work across the full research pathway, from identifying evidence gaps and developing innovative solutions to translating findings into policy and practice. Supported by our network of specialist hospitals, laboratories, universities and country programmes, our research is rooted in the realities of people affected by leprosy and driven by the goal of improving prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and inclusion worldwide. We support research aimed at accelerating the elimination of leprosy and improving the lives of people affected by the disease. Our research spans biomedical, clinical, and operational studies, with a strong emphasis on developing better diagnostic tools, improving treatment strategies, preventing disability, and reducing stigma.
In TLMGB, research is not undertaken for publication alone, but to improve health services, influence policy, and improve the lives of people affected by leprosy.
We work in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Niger, Sri Lanka and Uganda.
Our work extends beyond funding research projects. We support specialist hospitals and laboratories across our network to become centres of research excellence, providing the facilities, expertise and partnerships needed to generate high-quality evidence. By strengthening clinical and laboratory research capacity, we help ensure that discoveries translate into better diagnostics, treatments and care for people affected by leprosy.Find out more about our research https://research.leprosymission.org.uk/research/
